Hello my magickal friends! Welcome to Choosing Sunshine!
My name is Kacey and I want to thank you for joining me here. I can’t wait to share this magickal journey with you.
My Story:
I started practicing witchcraft when I was a preteen like many rebellious kids do. My friends and I bought a book or two and used to make up concoctions and try and divine who would be our next boyfriend; silly things preteen girls used to occupy their time with. But then it became something different. It became more than just reading spells in a book or trying to communicate with spirits in a seance. It began to feel like coming home.
The feeling I got made me feel more connected to nature and a divinity that I had never experienced before. I began to explore more and ask deeper questions. I became consumed with learning as much as I could about this new path. It wasn’t until I was in college that I learned that I could actively practice this as a religion. I made the choice then, to become Wiccan.
It has not been an easy path. I’ve lost good friends and relationships over my beliefs. People have called me a devil-worshiper, a satanist, and a lunatic. I’ve also been shunned by people I cared about and thought cared about me, including some of my family. Sharing my beliefs with people has caused me to fear that they wouldn’t understand or that I wouldn’t be taken seriously. I’ve been afraid of losing jobs if people found out about what I believed. Therefore, I had to choose carefully who I shared my beliefs with. Because there is so much stigma around Wicca and witchcraft, it’s a wonder anyone comes out of the broom closet at all!
But despite all of that, this is the only path that has ever felt right to me and I know there are a lot of you that feel the same.
Let this be a safe space for you to be yourself. You will never be judged here. Your light and your wonderful, magickal self will be celebrated and encouraged! You are free to explore and question and embrace your magick!
Why Wicca?
The great thing about Wicca is that you can make it whatever you want it to be! There are so many pathways and traditions out there, and no one right way to practice. They are all true for different people.
We all start out as beginners. There is so much information out there, so many books to read, websites to sift through, videos to watch, people to talk to, and it’s hard to know where to begin. One of my goals here is to help make your magickal journey a little easier.
I’ve been teaching beginner Wicca classes and workshops for years and I pride myself on helping make the overwhelming amount of information more digestible for those who wish to explore the Craft. I also teach Wicca and witchcraft the way I would have wanted to be taught.
So what’s stopping you from practicing?
One of the biggest obstacles I come across most often with my students, my friends, and even with myself, is having the time to actually practice magick. We all live extremely busy lives and finding the time to sit down for a ritual, or waiting for the right moon phase, or having the right supplies, can be frustrating and sometimes inconvenient.
We all want to be the perfect witch who can do the herbal candlelit baths and meditate for hours without interruption, performs elaborate rituals, has the perfectly decorated altars, and can chant spells from memory in perfect rhyming iambic pentameter.
STOP! This isn’t reality! Most of us are lucky if we have 5 minutes to sit down in meditation, to light a candle, or send a quick intention out to the universe.
So this is what I’m going to help you with. I’m going to give you quick, 5-10 minute tools to help you practice magick in your own time. Simple spells, quick meditations, easy exercises, and everything that can help you practice magick and keep you connected, even with your busy schedule.
You can become the witch you want to be and practice magick in a way that works for you, 5 minutes at a time.
I can’t wait to take this journey with you! Until next time, Be well and Choose Joy!
