Hello my magickal friend! Today we’re going to talk about how to use the Sun’s power at Litha to help us take action to achieve our goals.
The first pagan holiday I ever celebrated was Litha. I was lucky enough to be able to celebrate with some great friends. It was a fun time of dancing around a bonfire, chanting some spells, and burning intentions for the goals that we were going to accomplish in the coming months. It was something magickal that I will carry with me throughout my life.
Since then, I’ve studied the pagan holidays and now run celebrations for people to be able to come together to experience and enjoy. However, Litha will always hold a special place in my heart. (If you’re interested in joining our 2020 virtual Litha celebration on June 24, you can call 508-239-3680 or email womenofwisdominc@gmail.com to sign up.)
I find that it is so important to celebrate the pagan holidays, if only for you to align with the cycle of the year. Feeling the ebb and flow of the seasons and having marked days that follow the turning of the year is so relevant in the world today, when people are so disconnected from nature and their own rhythms.
Litha is a great holiday to celebrate because it kicks off the summer season, which is full of positive energy and sunshine, which is something the world needs a lot more of today.
What is Litha?
Litha, also known as Midsummers or the Summer Solstice, is the traditional pagan celebration of the Sun. It is also a Feast Day, like it’s counter-holiday Yule. This means that it is not one of the fertility or harvest holidays; it’s solely a celebration! Litha gives the celebrants an opportunity to reach above their current life experience to touch the brilliance, power, and might of our closest star, the Sun!
This is also the time of year where, traditionally, couples would jump the fire to commit themselves to each other for a year and a day. This gives them an opportunity to see if they want to commit to forever. This type of action is exactly what Litha is all about, committing to your goals through action and drive.
Litha is about energy in action
One of the main themes of Litha is energy in action. This is the perfect time of year to put all of those spring plans into motion. By tapping into the power of this holiday, you can channel so much energy to help you get stuff done.
Litha is the perfect holiday to help you start whatever project or goal you’ve been planning. Tap into the energy of Litha to get the ball rolling. The energy you feel at Litha can help to spark movement to start taking the steps you need to achieve your goals.
Making things happen for yourself
The thing about using this energy is making stuff happen for you. You have the power to do the work and manifest what you want through your actions.
Remember, you are in the driver’s seat of your goals. You are the only one that can achieve your goals. Don’t expect other people to do the work for you. It is up to you to make your goals happen.
And remember, you don’t have to do everything at once. Baby steps are still steps!
Use the energy of Litha to motivate you to take those steps. At the bottom of this article I’ve provided a short spell to help you tap into the power of Litha to get you moving on your goals.
Taking massive action
One thing you want to be aware of is getting caught up in passive action as opposed to massive action. One of my favorite life coaches, Natalie Bacon, explains it really well in her podcast, Massive Action. (If you’re interested in learning more about her coaching program, Grow You, click here.)
Passive action is what most people get caught up in, like doing research or staying in the planning phase of your goals. It feels like you’re taking action because you’re doing work, but passive action will not get you your results.
Massive action is what happens when you do the work. This looks like doing the ritual instead of just planning it out, or practicing the spells instead of just reading the books, or cooking the meal instead of just studying the recipe.
If we want the results, we have to take massive action. We have to take the steps and direct the energy towards our goals instead of just sitting around waiting for what we want to come to us.
Being completely honest about your needs and goals in your life right now
Before you can manifest what you want, you have to be clear about what that is. Litha is the perfect holiday to be honest with yourself about what your needs and goals are right now. Let the sun shine clearly on what they are. What do you want to manifest? What are your desires for your life at the moment?
Once you get clear on what you want, then you can start taking that massive action. But you can’t take action if you’re unclear on what you really want to bring into your life. Now is the time to really dig deep and figure it out.
Communicate your needs and desires in a truthful, considerate way
Once you’ve figured out what your needs and desires are, you need to be able to communicate them to yourself, your spirit guides, or anyone who could help you reach your goals. As long as your goals are not going to hurt or harm anyone, the universe will conspire to help make it happen for you.
Being truthful and honest about what you want is crucial in the manifestation process. If your intentions and desires are clear and honest, your chances of getting what you want increase significantly.
What are you looking to manifest in your life
If you have a clear vision about what your needs and desires are, you can figure out what you really want to manifest. For example, if you need more money, you might want to manifest a new or better paying job, or a side hustle to bring in some extra income.
You want to make your goals achievable for yourself. If you want to manifest more money, but you set an unrealistic goal like, I want to manifest a million dollars by tomorrow, you could be setting yourself up for failure. I’m not saying you shouldn’t want to manifest a million dollars, but make it manageable. Remember, you’re the one who’s going to have to take the actions to get there.
Now that you know what you want, how can you direct your manifestation energy to achieve your goals?
Getting it done
This is the part most people have trouble with. It’s a lot easier to dream of and plan a goal, but once it comes to taking the actions to get it done, it can be really hard to actually follow through. We as dreamers and goal-setters need to learn how to show up for ourselves. Making the commitment to ourselves is a lot more difficult than making a commitment to other people.
I know I have a lot of trouble showing up for myself. It’s so much easier to be there for others and make sure I honor my commitments to them, but when it comes to being there for myself, I fall short. I had to really do some self work to see myself as equally important to other people that I made commitments to. And I can tell you, I’m far from perfect at this!
We have to learn how to respect ourselves enough to take the actions needed to achieve our goals.
Litha is a great time to do something about it
Litha is the perfect holiday to help us get that motivation and commitment we need to show up for ourselves and achieve the goals we set. Using this powerful sun celebration can help to inspire our own energy and channel it into taking action. The Sun is at its peak during the longest day of the year, so harness that energy to help you get to those goals you’ve set.
For help to harness the energy of Litha, try the simple spell below. Let it help you channel your energy into taking action to achieve your goals.
Litha Spell for Taking Action
Materials needed:
- Yellow or orange candle
- A piece of orange calcite
- Matches or lighter
Sit somewhere you can be in sunlight, whether outside or by a window. Take the calcite into your left hand. Feel the warmth of the sun soak into your skin. Feel the energy of the sun fill you and then into the calcite through you. You may feel this energy as heat or a tingling or a pulsing energy. Let it fill you head to toe. Once you feel full of the energy, light the candle. Place the hand with the calcite over your power center, right above your navel. Imagine a small ball of light within your body where your hand rests. Feed the energy you’re feeling into that ball of light. Say the following:
Power of the Sun, come to me
Fill me with your energy
Let your power light the fire
And help me gain my heart’s desire
The will to act is what I seek
And as you reach your highest peak
Your energy will light the way
To move me forward from this day
With gratitude I take your power in me
As you will it, so mote it be
Sit for a moment, seeing in your mind yourself taking the actions needed to achieve your goal. Once you have the picture in your mind, send your gratitude for the energy boost and snuff out the candle. Carry the calcite with you and hold it when you need a boost of energy or motivation. You can repeat this spell as often as you want until your goals are complete.
Wishing you a blessed Litha! Be well and choose joy!
